Red Sky at Night is inspired by the ancient rhyme:
Red sky at night, shepherd’s delight.
Red sky in the morning, shepherd’s warning.
As a child, I remember keeping an eye out for red skies because of this rhyme, which some may know instead as ‘sailor’s delight.’
This painting depicts a moment of quiet magic, as a vivid pink-red sky casts its glow across a misty mountain landscape. Framed by lush green cliffs, a lone deer drinks at the water’s edge, bringing a sense of harmony to this peaceful scene.
Layers of mixed media add depth and texture to the surrounding greenery, contrasting with the vastness of the mountains and the stillness of the water.
